Kate Middleton Honors Murdered Sarah Everard at Clapham Common

Earlier today, police officer Wayne Couzens was charged with the kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard, a 33-year-old woman who went missing while walking home in south London on March 3.

To pay tribute to Everard, Reclaim These Streets had organized a COVID-safe vigil to take place on Saturday in Clapham Common, close to where the kidnapping took place. However, after discussions with London’s Metropolitan Police broke down, the vigil was canceled. Instead, a doorstep vigil will take place across the United Kingdom, and people have visited the park throughout the day to leave flowers and pay their respects following Everard’s murder.

A Kensington Palace source told Harper’s Bazaar, “The Duchess wanted to pay her respects to Sarah and her family. She remembers what it felt like to walk around London at night before she got married.”

Sharing footage of Kate, Sky News‘s Thomas Newton wrote, “The Duchess of Cambridge has paid her respects to Sarah Everard at Clapham Common bandstand.”

Vigils had also been planned in cities including Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Belfast, and Cardiff. As reported by The Telegraph, “At 9:30pm [BST] on Saturday night, a ‘doorstep vigil’ will be held across the country, with participants standing on their doorsteps and shining a light (e.g. candle, torch, phone). They said the act will help ‘remember Sarah Everard and all women affected by and lost to violence.'”

Reclaim These Streets explained, “We aren’t just lighting a candle for the women we’ve lost: we have been inspired by the women who have reached out and hope this is just the start of a movement that will light a fire for change. We want to remember that at the heart of this story is a young woman who isn’t going home tonight, and a family who have lost a daughter and sister.”

Alternatively, if you prefer using a stand alone software you can download to your computer without eating up your wallet, then, my favorite is Art Text Design for Mac, though you may still use softwares like WordArt or simply check out Envato Marketplace for some cool and affordable products that may be used for the same purpose. You may also use free print-on-demand websites like Teepublic to sell items with your artwork designs printed on them and make some cool money from that.
