How To Create A T-Shirt Mockup (EASY) – How To Use PlaceIt for Shirt Mockups & Designs Tutorial

You can start your cool T-shirt design for free using either Canva.com or Placeit.net or even Envato Elelements. Alternatively, if you prefer using a stand alone software you can download to your computer without eating up your wallet, then, my favorite is Art Text Design, or simply check out Envato Marketplace for some products.

You can start your cool T-shirt design for free using either Canva or Placeit or even Envato Elelements. Alternatively, if you prefer using a stand alone software you can download to your computer without eating up your wallet, then, my favorite is Art Text Design for Mac, though you may still use softwares like WordArt or simply check out Envato Marketplace for some cool and affordable products that may be used for the same purpose. You may also use free print-on-demand websites like Teepublic to sell items with your artwork designs printed on them and make some cool money from that.

  1. Can you make the t shirt design with out the models… just strictly plain background and T-shirt with the design? No models needdd

  2. Hey there. I’m wondering if you have had any issues using T spring? There’s no way to contact anyone there. You can email them but no one ever ever ever responds. It doesn’t help when they don’t even have a phone number you can call and there’s no answers from a technical perspective on how to deal with issues that are coming up with uploading designs. I have made over 50 designs today and none of them are in my store. I don’t know what to do and I’m wondering if there’s another platform besides Teespring because thatSucks

  3. How do you deal with the shirt itself that the model is wearing being totally different from the t-shirt you are selling the design on? I imagine a client would be disappointed that the shirt design on the model is different from what they receive.

    1. Decide what product you’re actually gonna use first and get a sample if possible, and then choose a mock-up based on that

  4. Working on setting up an etsy shop. Do you prefer using Canva or Place It to handle the designing? Any pros/cons in your experience?

    1. Personally, I use canva and placeit mostly for ads or ig posts. I use Photoshop and Illustrator mostly for t-shirt designs, but I have students who use canva for their t-shirt designs and they still get sales. So it’s not that there is anything wrong with it, but I’ve already used Photoshop and Illustrator for such a long time, so I don’t really use canva for t-shirt designs.

  5. Hey Rich, this is a very interesting website: “placeit” curious thou, when it comes to inspiration for a design, is a site like this a great source or something that everyone is interested in buying? Being that with the crisis of the Coronavirus has been heavily on everyone’s mind – seems like a challenge to know if anyone could think pass it? Any thoughts on that subject, like what is the market doing or affecting now since most are at home, not shopping for things other than toilet paper and water, not to forget pasta and cans of beans… LOL! Just a curious thought?

    1. Hey David! My sales are definitely down, but not out for the count. However, in times like this, I still prepare new designs and have them listed up on marketplaces and sites so that when the market is better, then I’ll already be prepared to have items ready for their demand.

  6. Rich, how does the process work when you make art with multiple colors? How do you cut the vinyl from multiple color rolls and have them placed on a shirt on the right spots?

    1. You have to layer it, kind of difficult to explain in writing. Youtube: Multi-layer color heat transfer vinyl.

  7. Thanks for making good on your word to thoroughly explain the editing process mentioned in your last video. I think I am going to do it! Been looking on Craigslist for some used hardware. Will keep you posted
