You can start your cool T-shirt design for free using either Canva or Placeit or even Envato Elelements. Alternatively, if you prefer using a stand alone software you can download to your computer without eating up your wallet, then, my favorite is Art Text Design for Mac, though you may still use softwares like WordArt or simply check out Envato Marketplace for some cool and affordable products that may be used for the same purpose. You may also use free print-on-demand websites like Teepublic to sell items with your artwork designs printed on them and make some cool money from that.

  1. 4:10 Hello Juna, do you have any idea how to use the different variations available when hovering a t-shirt design template? I don’t really get why they make a variations if they not letting us to use the variations.

    1. I think you get the first one you see before it changes and shows the variations… but yea I wish you could scroll through the variations they show you.

  2. I joined Placeit last night and I am a little upset because I can not find a blank template for t-shirt like on Canva. I do appreciate it is easier than Canva but I wish I could find a blank template.

    1. Yeah… That’s a little different… You have to start with something… You can delete it all and that would be a blank template but you can’t start there.

  3. I just found out recently, you can resize on their site. After you click the download button, the box on the upper right that appears called, My Downloads. At the bottom of that box, it says “View All”. Then you can click the image you want and hit the crop and resize button. Type in 4500X5400 for Merch By Amazon.

  4. i got a few questions though. i am just curious

1)if i used placeit from what i understand you can resize to 4500 by 5400 which is for merch by amazon using the free resize tool correct?

    2) placeit designs default comes with rgb or cmyk?, does it matter? and should i try attempt to change it using converter from rgb > cmyk?

    3) i tried using the free account today, i only see the DPI is set to 72 by default. apparently it doesn’t support to 300 dpi which is for fine printing. Does it matter on my print on demand products or it will look pretty bad when i print out on a physical product?

    1. Thanks for the questions. I’ll try to answer them.

      1) Yes you can resize your design using their resize tool. I didn’t show it in the video but placeit has a resize tool.

      2) It in the end it doesn’t really matter. Just try to stay away from the really bright colors. There is no good way to print those.

      3) It says 72 DPI but if you resize it to 4500 x 5400 you will be fine. It’s a transparent PNG which is exactly what you need.

  5. Yea 🙁 when I download, even though I chose no background, its downloading with a white background. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?🤔

    1. @Detour Shirts yea, frustrating…may have vfc to just go back bv to my vhf other design tool…I’ll try again today. Was excited to learn this tool…maybe just a temporary glitch. Thanks

  6. One of redbublle artist told me his account got suspended. He only get his desgin from placeit.

    What could be the reason??

    1. @Detour Shirts i also told him that.. and he said he use some celebrity name in the tags. Maybe thats the reason

    2. It’s most likely the topic not the design… stay away from copyrighted and trademarked topics, pictures and phrase

  7. Hey the dpi on placeit are 72 DPI, while to print a good quality we need at-least 300 dpi. So please do tell using placeit designs will have good quality print in real on the T-shirts?

    1. No you can’t scale up pixels. I believe placeit is scaling up a vector file before giving it to you as a bigger png.

    2. Detour Shirts Okay so does that mean we can use placeit images by scaling up pixels and the print quality will be good? Thank you for the reply 🙂

    3. Yes, correct the png file is 72 DPI but the size is by default 4000px x 4800px which can be scaled up to 7500px x 7500px in their image cropper. That should big enough to get all the rough edges out.

  8. Can u please make a video about the required dimensions for tshirts and other products on teespring ,merch by Amazon ,redbubble..
And if we can have a single image which we may scale down to diff products ..please…

  9. Placeit is the best! I have had a bunch of success using placeit to mock up my print on demand products (particularly Society6) and it is SO easy. Also very cook for Instagram stories, I started using these recently. Great video, keep up the great work 🙂

  10. You can resize your design in placeit itself. It have free resize tool in the extreme right of the top bar.

  11. hi juna hope you doing well please I have a problem in my adress emal instad of typing .com i type .ccom .
is there is any possiblity to change it in redbuble.thank you for helping

  12. Great tutorial, I’m subscribed to place it but found it a bit overwhelming so would love more videos like this x

  13. Hi, should i keep anti alising on or not, and which color scheme should i make my designs in,? RGB, or CMYK

    1. I keep anti aliasing on to keep it smoother… I like to use CMYK just to make sure that all the colors I pick can be printed.

  14. Hey Juna another great video thank you!! Would you be able to do a video sometime to explain jpg to png, aspect ratio etc? Sometimes I convert and then resize and sometimes it doesn’t work and sometimes it does. It’s Graphic Designer language to me lol and I’m a beginner. 🤣🤣🤣

  15. Hello Juna
First of all thank you for the videos you upload and share with us on youtube about yourPOD journey (i watched them all and still want more ☺️)
I finished the creation of my redbubble shop thanks to your advices but not sure if i really set it up correctly. So please if you can just review it the next time you make a shops review video.
Here is the link to my shop
    https://www.redbubble.com/people/joe5002/shop?asc=u

    Thank you so much

    1. Ooh great you saw my comment and took time to check my store. I ll keep uploading more designs every day and i ll put in practice you valuable advices today. Thank you Juna

    2. It’s a great start. I would suggest you put your photography on the posters as the default image instead of the phones or shirts. I think they will do better. The masks are very creative. You just need to add more designs to find out what sells the best for you. Try to get to 100 well thought out designs.

  16. Hey Juna, nice video!
It says 72 dpi on the download, do we have to change it if we want to sell the design at merch by amazon?

    1. @Anindita Sinha When you finish your design and click on the Download button, a window will pop up that has a link that says “View All.” Click on that to go to the “purchases” page (it says purchases even if you have a subscription). You will see a box that says “Download for Web (72 DPI).” Click on the arrow next to it and select “Download (PDF).” Once you download the PDF, you will need to use Adobe Acrobat (DC or other full version) or some other program to convert it to an image, which should be 300 DPI.

    2. @pickin_grinnin wow didn’t know that. Where should I look to get 300dpi in placeit. I might sound ignorant but I’m a newby, so.

  17. I just typed in bad things happen in Philadelphia on merch informer and it’s giving an F with 501 products and 0 BSR. That’s odd if the shirts are selling.

  18. Love Placeit! Haven’t had time to explore it all yet, thank you for the tutorial! As always, valuable content!😃

  19. Hi Juna, affinity designer and affinity photo, are they 2 different things? I mean does the 1 time payment includes affinity photo?

  20. Man, I love placeit, i use it to the fullest, the only issue I have is they have so many styles (specifically typography), i often spend hours locating the style I want or I make a variation of what’s in my head.. also some allow certain # of letters and certain # of add text lines, but I figured ways around it.. also they have an image cropper/resizer it’s awesome,, thank god for placeit I suck at photopea/photoshop and inkscape, trying to still learn tho.

    1. How do you work around the limitations to the # of letters or text lines? That is one thing that has always bothered me with Placeit!

  21. No problem… I won’t be adding any design regarding the trend credit, because somehow on weekends I don’t seem to get any design approved, it stays under review the hole weekend. Being in tier 10 sucks 😂 The logo designer is also a good place to make designs. Good Video!

  22. Unfortunately, It looks like someone trademarked the phrase “Will You Shut Up, Man?” for t-shirts and sweatshirts yesterday. Do you think we can still use the quote without the comma and question mark, or should I take down my designs from MBA?

  23. Hey Juna!
No need to import it to photoshop or affinity designer from placeit, you can just resize the designs in placeit itself by image cropper up to 7500 x 7500.
It is very useful to adjust your design as per your requirement.
    Go check it.

    1. @Detour Shirts Juna Bro, one more request, please post videos on daily basis covering daily trending Products. Ryan Hogue does once a week I guess.

  24. I know you are pretty skilled graphic designer so do you use placeit often or regularly? I try to use it in a creative way, taking the graphics to different places/taking canva graphics there and vice versa, use vintage effects with placeit because i’m so bad at using photoshop/photopea :D..

    1. I use it mostly for mockups but I thought this would be helpful for those that follow me and are not graphic designers. After doing this tutorial though I’m thinking about using some of this stuff.
