Inkscape Tutorial: Line Art Logo Text

You can start your cool T-shirt design for free using either Canva or Placeit or even Envato Elelements. Alternatively, if you prefer using a stand alone software you can download to your computer without eating up your wallet, then, my favorite is Art Text Design for Mac, though you may still use softwares like WordArt or simply check out Envato Marketplace for some cool and affordable products that may be used for the same purpose. You may also use free print-on-demand websites like Teepublic to sell items with your artwork designs printed on them and make some cool money from that.

  1. Assalamu Alikum.
Hello Nick! I am S M Rashed Ahmmed. I am a Logo designer and I was starting my designing career with Adobe Illustrator. When I heard that Illustrator is a paid software and I am using Illustrator in some illegal way then I stopped my design. But Almighty Allah gives me the path. I found your channel and almost I have seen your all videos. And now I am working with Inkscape for my client and earning money. I don’t know my letter will reach you or not if you see please take my salam and dua. May Allah give you more and more success in here and the afterlife.

Feel free to visit your student portfolio: https://www.behance.net/designwithrashed

    Thanking you
    Your Student

  2. What am I doing incorrectly? the notdes didnt appear lik yours and also the only ring that moved was the outside ring. 🙁

  3. Hello Nick, I have learned so much from your videos and the class, thank you so much. I am having an issue that I can’t solve. When I reduce the opacity on an object/path it reduces the
opacity of everything on my screen. I cannot find any solutions. Have you had this problem and any idea how to solve it? Thank you…

    1. @Shaikh Aaqib hello,

I’ve made everything as per this tutorial. (My niece’s name).

Now I hv combined all the individual stroke paths of the name into one.
      Fill is ‘NO FILL’
      STROKE COLOR IS GRADIENT.

to get Black Background, I’m making a rectangle with Black fill and ‘No Stroke color’.

I select the rectangle and the ‘combined path’ name
      And centre them.

But only black color of rectangle is seen.

Multiple attempts to raise or lower the black rectangle or the ‘combined path’ name fails to display the name ON TOP of the black rectangle.

      Please help.

  4. Thank you for the amazing tutorials!
Following this one I found that you do not need to hold shift + alt + mouse-drag to select certain parts.
Instead you can just use alt + mouse-drag.

Thought this would be usefull to know for some reason 😛

    1. After you select everything, go to Path > Combine (Not group as you did in your video).

After that, click on blank area to deselect everything (Important to deselect first) and grab bezier tool and make a shape around the top half of circle then go to Path > Cut Path.

  5. Hi
    good job
i have a question how can you make the stroke gradient?
in the video picture it was was gradient
but you did not make it in the video

  6. Wouldn’t it be better to make the initial circles dashed before duplicating them? I like this kind of logo. Thank you for this tutorial, Nick.

    1. That’s another way to do it, but I think he’s going for an irregular pattern. Even a custom made line would still have the same “beat” to it, right?

    1. Thanks for the answer!
I ask this because I am looking for great tool to create motion graphics for Linux

    2. I just recorded my screen while designing my logo, then cropped out everything outside of it and played it back at 8x speed

  7. How would I go about putting letters into potatoes. Like, the one part is cut out like someone did potato art with a peeler?

    1. After some rough drafts on paper i am going to try creating the circle and breaking it into half pieces and quarter pieces. Then a straight line that will be inserted between each half piece. It will make the letters slightly taller and allow flexibility with letters not naturally curvy.

    2. I think you could, but you’ll have to make the letters a bit larger in relation to their overall thickness. It might take a little trial & error to find the right balance, because it’s going to look best when the letters are as thick as possible. Maybe use a heavy font as a guide.

    1. I do, I just needed to get back into using Adobe software because I created a separate channel for Illustrator tutorials
